Artists at the Biennials 1900-1960 - Events

From March 6 to April 11, the exhibition Artists at the Biennales 1900–1960 at the Palazzo Vescovile in Portogruaro offers a calendar of meetings, conferences, and guided tours dedicated to the protagonists of the first sixty editions of the Venice Biennale.

Through around seventy paintings from exclusively private collections, you can discover the profound renewal of the figurative arts between the late 19th century and the 1960s. A journey that will take you through the movements, poetics, and great personalities that have marked the history of Italian and international art.

All events begin at 5:00 p.m., by reservation (tel. 0421 564136 / info@palazzovescovile.it), and will be preceded by a guided tour of the exhibition: an additional opportunity to explore the topics covered during the meeting.

The program of events:

• Friday, March 6 – With Professor Virginia Baradel, you will explore the theme of the Marzotto Painting Prize and its connection to the Biennale.
  
  
• Saturday, March 14 – Curator Stefano Cecchetto will guide you on a discovery of Giorgio de Chirico and the Antibiennali period (1950–1954).
  
  
• Saturday, March 21 – Carlo Montanaro will recount the origins and developments of the Venice Film Festival as an international festival.
  
  
• Saturday, March 28 – You will hear the testimony of Friulian artist Giorgio Celiberti, who in 1948, at only eighteen years of age, was the youngest artist admitted to the Biennale with his painting “La Ferrovia” (The Railway).
  
  
• Saturday, April 11 – Daniela Ferretti and Maurizio Zanei will present the figure of Zoran Music, an artist who worked in Gorizia, Venice, and Paris.
